Hi All,

I am having dificulty with receiving messages from some mailservers (ex. tiscali and gmail), when is send a message from an account on one of their servers i get the following message:

451 Temporary local problem - please try later

Is this a problem at my server or is it just their servers?

I am using DirectAdmin 1.24.3 with Exim 4.50

Thanks for the Help.

How did you get the error?

Presumably however you got the error will give some clue as to which server sent it.

Or you can tail your /var/log/exim/mainlog file while trying to send the message. If you see the error there it's being sent by DA; otherwise it's coming from the sending server.

The error is coming from the sending server (not my server).

I think i got some kind of a dns problem, but i am not sure because some hosts cannot ping my server.

The host is www.kosterman.net can someone try and ping it?

Thanks.

Ok thanks for your help, i think i have solved the problem.

The hostname of my machine is serv2.developerhosting.nl and the nameservers are:
ns1.developerhosting.nl and ns2.developerhosting.nl. i've added the domain developerhosting.nl but i had to add two A records for the nameservers.

You sure did :) .

The "local problem" was that the sending server couldn't find your DNS servers.

451 Temporary...no email

Hi, I have an account that is not receiving email. I used SquirrelMail on the account to try to send email; I got "451 Temporary Local Problem."

Coming to this thread, I then went to /var/log/exim/mainlog and saw several messages like these (I have substituted "account domain", etc., for the real names of the domains involved):

* malware acl condition: clamd: unable to connect to UNIX socket /tmp/clamd (Connection refused)

* F=<[email protected]> temporarily rejected after DATA

* H=localhost ([account domain].com) [127.0.0.1] F=<[email protected]> rejected RCPT <doug@[otherdomain].com>:

* unexpected disconnection while reading SMTP command from localhost ([account domain].com) [127.0.0.1]

* H=localhost ([account domain].com) [127.0.0.1] incomplete transaction (connection lost) from <[account name]@[account domain].com> for alicia@[account domain].com

Do these messages give anyone an idea of what might be preventing the mail from going or coming?

Thanks!

I started getting thsi error out of nowhere. I can not find the problem.

Now I am getting:

my password being prompted and the log reads:

install default exim conf to try
seems like you added some rules or copied from elsewhere.

My admin did cause this problem. I tried using a working backup. Still no luck. Where is the default exim.conf?

error 451 = You have no sender adres set in squirrel @ options

Thanks! This turns out to be the true source of my problem. It is impossible to send mail using Squirrelmail until a return address has been set in the Options->Personal Information section of Squirrelmail.

A good question would be "why does this happen"?

When we set up a logical email address (a domain address) both the From and the Reply-To addresses are set up in Squirrelmail automatically; that's part of the standard DA install. It just works.

When I test with a website I set up some time ago, from the main email address (the site username) neither the From nor the Reply-To address are set up, but outgoing email still works, the email comes to me with the [email protected] as the return address.

And when I set a new domain with a username right now, it DOES fill in both the From and the Reply-To addresses, and I receive that email with the proper return address as well.

Do you have a standard squirrelmail install from DA? Did you upgrade it? If so, did you upgrade it from DA sources or from somewhere else?

Jeff

Hmmm... you're right. I hadn't noticed that because I still received the email, but I can see why some folk wouldn't.

The new domain setups do seem to fill it in properly.

If someone can figure out where it's saved I'll see if we can come up with a script to fix it for all domains.

Jeff

i install the ClamAV then can send out , but can not received any email from outside , any one help ?
