why do mailboxes become bigger than quota?

I have noticed that some user's email boxes has passed their quota
limit. I wonder how can this be possible if there is a quota limit?

For instance a user has a quota of 15MB and his mailbox is 20MB.

I am currently using the last DA version 1.25 on a Redhat 9 based
dedicated.

Unless you have quotas turned on for your /var partition, DA only checks once every day.

About the quota issue, I have the impression that this started when I updated to DA 1.25 and restarted the server

the mail quota et web space quota is full
and the user can receive email again
