My server

My server become very very slow today suddenly.

I don't know why..... It do not have any problem yesterday...

My server IP : 202.65.97.180 , 202.65.97.181



I have already reboot the server and try the solve the problem... But the problem still here....

Here's what we can tell with only IP#s...

1) ping works. Your server is alive.

2) dig -x 202.65.97.180 tells us that you don't have reverse DNS; this will slow down a lot of services.

3) traceroute 202.65.97.180 shows us that on the route between our system and your server there's a huge slowdown (increase in latency) between the 9th hop and the 10th hop:

9 i-2-0.wil-core01.net.reach.com (202.84.251.193) 10.724 ms 12.293 ms 12.218 ms
10 i-3-3.tmhstcbr01.net.reach.com (202.84.143.214) 159.757 ms 158.125 ms 158.999 ms

Since both of these hops appear to occur in the same network I don't have any idea why the latency is so high after hop 9 but this could cause an apparent slowdown in server response, especially for interactive activities, such as loading sites with a lot of individual pieces of content.

Perhaps your network provider can give you some clues.

As Jeff mentioned, call your network provider to get some clues and while you're chatting with them, ask them to assign reverse DNS authority to you...

They will not help me to set reverse DNS.....

They said the are just the server provider....

They will not give any support...

You don't say who your server provider is.

Nevetheless, I traced 202.65.97.180 from the root servers up, and reverse DNS is currently dedicated to these two servers:

silver.hkabc.net
gold.hkabc.net

If that's your domain, you should just set up the reverse DNS yourself.

If that's not you, then is it your upstream provider?

Whether or not it's your upstream provider, they have to either set it up for you or delegate it to you so you can set it up.

If they can't or won't do either then you'll eventually have to move your server elsewhere or you'll have problem with connectivity to lots of servers and services, and problems getting a lot of domains, including hotmail and aol, to accept email from you.
