Lights out here:(
After new install on another new system, i didnt have the time to change the password.
is there another way to get in ?

There are lots of ways to get into a server without a password. Once you're in the server you can change the DA password and/or the root password.
You do need physical access.
For linux you boot and instead of booting into linux, you boot into "linux single". Instructions for doing it can be found on the 'net, for either Grub or LILO.

i did
vi /usr/local/directadmin/scripts/setup.txt
but that password isnt working

Just reset the admin password through root. DirectAdmin should just be using the system's username/passwords.

jmstacey is correct, for people who need the specifics...
log into your server as root and type the following:
# passwd admin
and enter the new password for the admin user. Then you can log into DA with the admin user and the new password you've just entered.
