Hi,

I'm using Red Hat Linux Enterprise 3.

Can someone please explain what exactly is the difference between 2.4.21-27.0.2.EL and 2.6.10?

Isn't the 2.4.21-27.0.2.EL Red Hat Linux Enterprise specific?

Regards,
Suhail.

RHEL was released with 2.4.x as the standard kernel.

Thank for the reply.

So then should I stick with 2.4.* RHEL specific because I currently have 2.6.10 with grsec patch installed by my server admins?

You should use whatever you need and whatever works for you.

But if you expect support, you should be using the standard kernel for the distribution.
