I would love to see a text editor feature in the da user control panel. It would make simple changes to html files a lot easier for my users.

Other than the editor available in the File Manager?

Then would you like to explain what kind of editor your looking for other than what is already available. ;)

What about an HTML WYSIWYG editor built into the file manager? Maybe using HTMLArea which is free (or was until they discontinued it but it should be easy enough to find it).
This would give a great site management system built into the control panel. Better still would be to have this as an optional feature per account? Then it can be charged for if necessary.

I doubt this will happen, anytime soon at least, but can always be suggested. There is a plugin being worked on to port an existing wysiwyg editor for DirectAdmin I think.

You don't happen to know where I could get more info on that, do you?
I've used HTMLArea a number of times before and I'm sure it should be easy to implement into DA but having never added anything to DA myself I don't really know where to start.
Helm for Windows Servers has a basic WYSIWYG editor in it's file manager. Very basic but at least enables non-techies to get a page or three onto their sites.

Thanks for the info. I've tried to look at their demo but just get a message saying the server is not available :-(
Based on the responses to their thread I would say we're very interested in it. However, we already have Interspire SiteCenter which we're very pleased with and all we really wanted was an HTML editor for the DA file manager, nothing more than that.
Is someone able to assist with making a plugin using the HTMLArea scripts?
