Read the comments below that article and you see this reviewer is not up to par. He's judging this article of a bad driver for his network card and starts bashing BSD. It's an OS crtitic not a real system admin so I wouldn't take it serious. I'm running BSD in a production enviroment since 5.1 which is actually considered a Beta. I never had lockups whatsoever.

Here another "real" FreeBSD administrator. As rhoekman already stated this reviewer was just bashing.

Been happily running the 5.x range for quite some time now.

agree with the above 5.3 is production ready.
