I'm having a problem uploading an update to an existing HTML file. I tried by going to file manager, upload into current directory and it tells me "upload successful". Then I look at the file it says 0kb, there's a file but without content. I tried editing the file by copy paste and "save as" with the same result. Any ideas of how to solve this?
thanks

When you shell into the server is the file name in the public_html directory? Who owns it?
What are the permissions?

It's my site. The file I want to update is in public_html and the permission is 755. I've done this before without a problem but somehow now it's not working. I get a 0KB file. I tried different stuff including deleting the old one, FTP again, same result. It shows the same file name again with 0KB.

Did you try removing the old html completely and uploading it as a fresh html?

But you still haven't told us the site owner.
Who owns public_html ?
What are the permissions for public_html ?

Yes, I've deleted the file and uploaded it again. It says upload successful and when I go check its there alright but with 0kb...no content.
I tried creating a new one and going to edit and doing a copy paste, all I get is 4 kb instead of the 21kb it should have. Tried pasting more into it, it doesn't work.

Please see my private reply to your private message.
Are you the owner of the server, with root and admin access?
If not... if you're a site-owner, then you'll have to get help from your hosting company, as neither you nor we have, nor can get, enough information to help you.
