I would like to upgrade openssl to the latest version(0.9.7d) which fixes some security bugs.
Is there any requirement for upgrading it? I mean, will the direct upgrade break DA?
Thanks for your information.
Also, mod_ssl is upgraded to 2.8.19 too.

I've update the customapache script.
As for openssl, DA itself is a static binary, so you need not worry. As for the rest of the programs, if you're updating via rpm through a recognized site, it *should* be fine.. but maybe ask someone who's tried it ;)

has anyone successfully updated from the source? Or has anyone found the rpms for the latest version of openssl (and ssh for that matter)?

You wont find rpms for it, since everything is backported. But yes we have updated it.
