Log File

Hi,

How do you manage the log file (shorten it)?

I'd like to get the log file to only show the latest month, not the entire thing. Seems it cannot be renamed or edited. I put up my site in mid-May, the log file changed on June 1 but has not since then. I'd like it to show only the present month's log.

Are you talking about the apache logs? They should rotate every month. If not then you'll have to set up logrotate to do what you want.

Hi again,

Couldn't find anything on log rotate. The only thing you seem to be able to do the log file is copy and rename. I haven't seen anything in the help file on log rotate.

As I said before, I put up my site around mid-May, if I download the backed-up apache log, Iget it to May 31 incl. The present log file (which I'd like to be starting from the first of every month) is showing everything from June 1 (instead of July 1).

There was a cut-off date (May 31- June 1) and I did not initiate anything for that to happen, why did that action not repeat itself on July 1?

Did your account usage reset on the 1st like it was supposed to? The logs should have been reset on the first along with the bandwidth usage etc.

Hi Jon,

When I go get my log file (not the backed-up file) it starts from 1 June.

The Apache back-up file goes from beginning to 31 May.
