Hi I am trying to install the Installatron plug-in, but I have struck a rather strange problem. My admin password is not being accepted by the plug-in manager password field. One thing to note is that I have previously changed my admin password in shell ( not through the DA interface ). Could this be the cause? Even then, the new password works fine to log-in to DA, its only the plug-in install that's not accepting. Also, my root login pass is different to the admin user pass. I have tried both, neither seems to work.

Hello,
There is a decoding bug with the multipart/form-data in the plugin upload form. I haven't looked at it yet, but I'm pretty sure that's the cause.

Workaround is to use a simple password for now.

John,
What do you mean by a "simple password"?
Thanks.

Hey,
From the link above...
-- Start quote --
The passwords being passed to DA from the 2nd section of the Plugin Manager are posted using the
enctype="multipart/form-data"
encoding to support the file upload. Some passwords are being encoded in such a way that DA cannot decode them.
Workaround: change your password to a simple format (plain ascii a-zA-Z0-9) temporarily when using that portion of the plugin manager.

Hello again, I have changed my admin password in DA to contain only alpha-numeric chars., I can log-in using the new password no problem, but the plugin-install is still rejecting me. I am running DA on FreeBSD 4.8, DA version 1.22.1 ( if that info is any help ) Thanks for any sugestions.

Hey,
What version of iTron are you using?
Check this thread (about half way down the page):
http://www.directadmin.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=3425&perpage=20&pagenumber=2
Looks like you should be on DA 1.222 with iTron 2.3rc3 or higher...
I don't know if that'll solve your problem but....

Yes, upgrading DA might possibly help (I will try ... but have to catch a plane in 2 hours), as far as iTron goes, that is what I am trying to install. The issue seems to be more that my password is simply not being accepted, so it never gets as far as installation. If there is some char encoding problem like mentioned previously ... I am using Safari on OS X - (I don't have IE) could perheps that be somehow POSTING the pass incorectly encoded? Any Safari - OS X users here?

Hey,
I understand...
The iTron 2.3rc3 release addressed the in_array problem that you may be seeing... It's the same problem John referenced above...
So, best bet may be to upgrade DA to 1.222 and then try the iTron install..
Best of luck.

still no luck ... upgraded to 1.222 but still getting: "The password provided is not correct" error. Ok will be back in about 28 hours, if any one has any suggestions in the meantime, will be mostly appreciated. After that I will try perheps using IE on my friends windows machine ?

Hello,
It's a DA decoding issue alone (nothing to do with a plugin bug). Try just a plain text (no numbers) password.. and failing that try a different browser. I'll be fixing the decoding for the next release.

Hey,
Dang, wonder why Phil mentioned it with regards to iTron...
"iTron v2.3rc3 is up fixing the "in_array" bug."
Oh well... sorry bout that.

No, I'm sorry about the bug! ;)
The password is checked before anything plugin related is done.

Ok success now. I have used Mozzila on OS X and that has worked. So the encoding problem seems to be Safari related

Seeing the same thing here in Safari 2.0 on Tiger. Works fine in Firefox though.

What version of DA and Safari are you using? It seems to be working here in DA 1.28 and Safari 2.0.4.

Using DA 1.28.6 and Safari 2.0.4(419.3) on OS X 10.4.8.
The plugin manager still does not accept the admin password.
Works perfectly using Firefox, though.

If someone could email me (support@) know what the POST is looking like (that DA receives):
cd /usr/local/directadmin
killall -9 directadmin
./directadmin rthen go to the plugin manager and generate the error. Restart DA normally to get it out of debug mode. If that worked, there will be some /var/log/directadmin/debug_* files.. find the one that holds your POST for the plugin manager and email me the entire output (if you were uploading a tar.gz file, don't email us the whole output.. perhaps host it somewhere and just give us the link)
