View Full Version : internal emails rejected when external MX records in place

I have a client with 3 domains on my DA Server. For one of the domains they have set up an exchange server, and we have programmed the appropriate MX records in the DNS Management area to redirect email properly.

The problem we are now having is the server is rejecting mail to this domain when the mail originates from another domain on the server. It immediately rejects the email as user not found. All "internal" messages are rejected, as there are no POP3 users for the account.

Any idea how I can get around this?

You have to check the box that says use external mail server.

Thanks. I am not familiar with that. Where would I find it?

Its in the dns settings section.

The box for 'Use this server to handle the mail' (or something) you can find at the MX-records page.

You should not have done it in DNS Management. Enable DNS Control for the user. Login as the user. Click MX Records. Make the changes there.

I misspoke. The changes were done in the client DNS area, not the server DNS Management area. I did find and uncheck the box, and I believe that fixed my issue.

Thanks for all the help!
