Setting up a dedicated IP address

I have tried this morning to setup a dedicated IP address in directadmin by assigning an IP to admin (My username) but this hasn't changed to owned and the only options I have are to share the IP or free the IP. How do I change the IP address to owned and then change my websites IP address without losing my website?

Assign the IP to admin, then assign the IP to a user with 'Edit this user'.
Then the IP is dedicated, unless you have set it to 'shared' before asign it to a user.
