from something mentioned in this other thread (http://www.directadmin.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=2107&goto=newpost) , didn't figure this belonged in that thread so I started a new one here.
New reseller system? Heavy discounts, costs would be higher?
You got something a little more detailed about this? Ya'll ain't going Ensim on us are you? Paid upgrades, huge price increases, crappier support, more bugs? After watching Ensim go from $119 per license to over $600 and then being asked to pay $250 for an upgrade that didn't even have all the features of the hacks I already had in place myself anytime I start hearing about "new pricing" from software vendors my spidey sense starts jangling.

Hi everyone (and Gary),
The new reseller system is not something to be afraid of. It will simply allow companies we deem experienced/knowledgeable to resell both internal and external licenses for us. It will benefit all parties involved:
Customers
The end-user will receive better pricing than what is currently listed on our pricing page, in addition to any value that the reseller adds to the DirectAdmin product. For example, some resellers may offer a unique skin to entice customers to purchase from them.
The customer can always purchase from us, although we will slightly increase our external license prices to encourage customers to buy from resellers.
Resellers
Resellers will receive a significant discount on licence prices resulting in a profit level higher than that offered by any other panel. In return, resellers will be required to support their customers in all aspects of control panel operation, except where the problem is something only we can fix (e.g. a bug).
In addition, resellers can create sub-reseller accounts, giving their customers the ability to order/activate licenses instantly. This is useful when selling to a large datacentre or other large client.
Our Company
With a large portion of sales and support being transferred to resellers, we can release features quicker and continue to offer a stable, efficient product.
We guarantee that you will NOT see price increases, more bugs, extra support fees, upgrade fees, etc. The only "warning" I have for current resellers is that the lifetime licenses will most likely vanish in the coming months. They are not profitable for us and we cannot continue offering them forever. However, you will receive ample warning of this change and the opportunity to buy as many lifetime licenses as you want before being cut off. I hope this doesn't come as a surprise, as we've been hinting about this for a while now.

I assume those licenses we've already paid (and prepaid) for will be unchanged just any additional purchasing may change?

That is correct. Current licenses for all customers will remain unchanged. If you buy blocks of lifetime licenses, you can activate them at any time in the future as a lifetime license.
