Hello,

I'm currently migrating users to another server, but before that i'd like backup DNS to work. Here is my idea:

ns1.domain.com -> IP on server A
ns2.domain.com -> IP on server B
ns3.domain.com -> IP on server A
ns4.domain.com -> IP on server B

4 nameservers, because currently i have all domains set to ns1 and ns2. The issue here is cause i dont completely understand what to do next. My primary domain (which is used for nameservers) is on server A, but if i want to add nameservers in server B with this domain (ns2.domain.com) i need to create an account with that domain. Same domain, added on two different servers?

What exactly should i do and what do i need to be carefull off. I want to migrate the primary domain (used for nameservers) to server B, along with all the users, but will keep directadmin working on server A (planning to move some other users there in the future).

Anyway, i'm not absolutely sure about the directadmin backup dns guide, i hope someone can explain a little more than the guide what to do in my case. I think it would be easier if i had 2 clean installs..

Can i just use 2 nameservers?

Do i add IP of server A to IP management on server B and vice versa?

Do i then set 'Nameservers' to those 2 ips and set the same on server A?

You've managed to lose me and I'm fairly sure you're making this a lot more complicated than it is.

You do NOT have to move a domain to a different server to set up DNS for it on that server; all you have to do is change the IP# for the nameserver IP# both at the registrar where the domain is registered, and in the working zone file for that domain.

For example, if the nameservers are:

ns1.example.com
and
ns2.example.com

Then you change the nameserver records where you've registered example.com, and you change the A records for ns1 and ns2, in example.com.db.
