View Full Version : restore domain under admin user as a regular user?

We are moving from the one server to another and would like to restore domains setup on the old server as a domain of admin to the new server as a different normal user account. Does someone knows if this is possible?

If this is not possible what actually happens if i restore the admin.root.admin.tar.gz backup file on the new server. Does this mess up things?

I think I found got a pretty clear solution (might come handy?)

- on the old server create a new user (using a dummy domain at setup)
- use http://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=58 to move the domain from admin to the new user
- make the moved domain the standard domain
- remove the dummy domain
- run admin backup for the new user and ftp to new DA server
- restore backup.

Restoring admin on the new server could change some settings and will definitely change the admin password to what it was on the old server.

This might be an easier way:

Create the backup at the user-level on the old server.

On the new server create the same username with any reseller you wish, and then restore the backup from that user.
