Yes, it is, if you have PHP 4.3.3 or above on your system.

at the moment the system is running on phpbb i can update but i need to no if al my data wil kept and if my domain name will be updated with it i want to update to phpbb3 but im confused as to how to do it do i just download it sorry for all the questions im new to all this and stil learning

Backup your site first.

Run the phpBB update.

If it fails, restore it.

DA doesn't really "affect" phpBB or any other php script. As long as you have the pre-reqs in place, you should be fine.

i have tried to update i thought one i did it wud auto matically update the phpbb for me but it wont what do i do now i can down load it to my pc but i havent a clue how to add it after that im lost

I don't know why you somehow decided that this thread was an Official DirectAdmin Announcement; it obviously isn't, and I've moved it to the proper subforum.

I also don't know what you mean by I have tried to update. Just what did you try to update? If you were expecting it to update phpbb you obviously weren't updating phpbb. Or were you?

You should probably ask your hosting company for this kind of support; while we like to help if we can; we're basically systems administrators, not site developers.
