I'm thinking of getting my own server and colocate it. I'm pretty much sure about what os going to use and what control panel but I'm not sure about what harware configuration to use. At the moment I can afford any 1U or 2U server but can any one suggest me regarding this? I have following questions bothering me:
1] How many HD
2] What size or How much total space
3] How do you handle back up
4] How DA handles Bandwidth and quota (including mysql data)
Any other suggestions will be appreciated also :D

Nothing special, 1 works fine.

Again, not much........ whatever you need for the OS and an extra 1/2 gb for the basics plus extra..... 20/40gb works fine.... storing lots of data and emails will of course start eating space soon after :) anything from 3/4gb to *

Either use your own custom script or you can now use the built in backup utilities which are being developed more and more lately, and of course any requests for additional features for that can be posted here or emailed to the DA staff.

4] How DA handles Bandwidth and quota (including mysql data)
Quotas are setup using the kernel quota (need quota enabled for your kernel, else users system quotas will not limit) atm everything in the users html dir is counted, iirc mysql is currenly not under the quotas though... bandwidth monitoring is any users access through any protocol....... each website is monitored indivudually.

Thanks for your prompt reply Chris :)
But I forgot to mention one thing - and that is I'm going to use this server as virtual hosting server for my web hosting business. Atm I'm using resellers' accounts. I am not sure How many accounts will be hosting on it. Can you tell me how much space should be there so i will not go out of business ;) Also for back up - Should i use a separate HD or some thing else? As I'm new to this I have no idea. For my web sites I'm using scripts which keep on sending me my daily and weekly backups but with whole server how to handle that?

If you have a VPS, you will only need around 1gb to install DA, its impossible to determine how much more than that you would need..... I would advise you to contact your VPS provider and find out if its possible to upgrade your account at a later date... have a look at your current reseller to see how much space you will need to start....

It will cost you bandwidth, thats about it... you WILL be under a shared processor and shared memory so you don't have the freedom of a standard dedicated, although sending backups shouldnt be to much strain..
