php5 cli+php5 cgi same time, would it work? I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work, since php4 cli+php5 cgi works just fine.

It's possible to do that, but not with the CustomBuild script :)

that's weird, even if I use custombuild to build php5-cgi then build php5-cli seperately, it wouldn't work? why is that? if just need to modify the conf files, that probably is doable, but i'm not sure is there anything else. please enlighten me once more.

You just need to edit configuration files and add your modifications :)
