Directory Password Protection

I have followed the directions for password protecting a directory and it does pop up with a "user/password" box, but when I enter the correct info and press the OK button it simply reopens the box asking for the same information.

How do I set it up to verify the password and open a specific htm page in that directory?

An error page displays "you don't have permission to access"

Can anyone give me some guidance.

Hello,

You're either using an incorrect password, incorrect user, or incorrect path.

Double check the path, user, and password (reset the password to make sure) and try again.

I played around with the path and got it working.
Is their a limit to how many user names I can set up?
