DirectAdmin avoids downtime by automatically recovering from crashes.

Does this apply to xinetd? Will directadmin monitor to see if xinetd crashes (imapd)

No, you will need to use something for this, I will have it included with some software im releasing soon (just one of the many things i'm in the middle of :))
