Updating PHPMYADMIN and MYSQL

Hi there i'm searching on all the topics.
We currently have a server with:

Debian

PHP Version 5.2.6

Welcome to phpMyAdmin 2.11.8.1

MSSQL Client API version 4.1.10

Allright now we want to update to the latest versions of Phpmyadmin and Mysql
Does anyone have an HowTo guide?
