If you don't need frontpage, then a standard apache-ssl rpm would work just fine. You'd just need to redo the /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf to work with apache 2.0. I'm assuming that the virtualhost directives should be the same.. if not, just edit the templates.

well my problem is to do the changes in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
every time I get apache 1.3 directives found
if you want I can post the httpd.conf in here
you also need to change the vhosts because "Port 80" has been replaced with "Listen 80"

I used the standard apache 2 httpd.conf and transferred all the DA info across and configured manually most of the defaults are fine, and should be what DA is using anyway (I think it uses the defaults at least :) )

Hello,
I couldn't get apache 2 to work with php
Could you be a bit more specific with the problem? Did you recompile php from a clean source after install apache?

i've left the original httpd 2.40.x conf file
recompiled with php 4.3.6 and with 4.3.4
I've add the head .php .phps .php3 and all that to the conf
and when I access php pages I see the source code
rolling back to DA'S custom httpd and all working
./build apache_mod_ssl

Would be nice if directadmin used apache2, but I understand about the frontpage thing. I have tons of time to waste so Ill google around. So far this is what I found, tho I dont know if its what you mean or not:

That's your opinion.
Many of us realize there are lots of good reasons to not use Apache2 for professional webhosting.
I don't anticipate changing to Apache2 for quite some time yet, and probably never will on our current servers.
At some point in the future I may be willing to install Apache2 on future servers, but not yet.

if u download the plesk demo for fedora, I think there is a working frontpage rpm for 2.0.40.
one question about this, is there a download for a working demo of DA to test on my server?

If you could point us/me to the fp patch id be happy to look into that.
For a test license, email sales@directadmin.com requesting one and Mark should inform you of the information they require for that.
