hi

since DA uses their own BIND, how would I go about updating it?

It shows that the DA excludes Bind from the yum.conf so I'm hesitant to even try performing an upgrade.

Generally DirectAdmin uses your OS distribution's BIND, at least it does on my CentOS installs.

You can remove bind from the exclude line in yum.conf.

But if you've installed either the caching nameserver or the chrooted bind, then those two should be excluded.

Note, I don't remember exactly what these are called and I didn't take the time to look them up; be careful :).

It looks like I have bind-chroot installed.
Now what should I do to safely remove this?

Just remove it?

Then: rpm -e bind-chroot
