When your site/server goes down, anyone using your skin has problems logging in or using their control panel as it can't find your license. It's very sluggish and does not work in some cases...
You might want to do as daplugin and setup a second License Repository for clients to ping off of. USA or Hong Kong
I will do better and offer my server as a second location :D

I'm having the same problem... getting LOTS of phone calls about not being able to access the control panel. This is the last straw... I love this skin but I can't take this any more. Switching all users back to the default DA skin.

Well I won't give up on Marina that easy, I am just saying he needs to get his ducks in order. A second server to hit off of, and my offer stands.
btw, http://www.cpskins.com/productinfo/icandy-da-skin.htm
No license, flat fee of $50
I would buy Marina for a flat one time fee of $49.00 and no silly license.
Personally, the owners of DA should grow one and buy the skin outright from this guy and make it the DA official skin.
It has to be the cleanest and nicest skin ever offered for DA.

I agree that DA should ship with a "nicer" skin, if it shipped with Marina that would be awesome.
I don't feel like I have any choice but to dump Marina... I have a lot of unhappy customers and I take that very seriously, I never make customers wait nor do I tolerate problems like this for very long.

Yeah, agreed on that. So much so on one server I switched to Plesk.
Since I did the custombuild I have had nothing but problems with the system, named stopped, dns issues.. (beta program)
I have to say John as been great at trying to fix the problems.
I just bought a domain and wanted to put the site up right away, bing! Named Stopped, can't get it restarted.
Screw it!! New OS reload and Plesk this time around. Maybe I will have better luck, who knows. :o

Wow I couldn't disagree more... I came to DA from 7 years of administering Plesk and H-Sphere (which Plesk bought). After trying DirectAdmin for two months (using custombuild, btw), I dropped BOTH and have never looked back.
I did, however, employ the services of Jeff at Nobaloney (he posts a lot to this forum) and that was money very well spent, as it helped smooth out some of the hiccups you seem to be experiencing.
I would never, ever switch to Plesk from DA now even if they paid me, and DA is so much cheaper to administer and license it's like they're paying me to use it!

Also consider allowing e-mails for support as your ticket system requires a web-based input which currently lacks proper reachability. Manually fixing several servers currently and getting lots of calls as well.
I really don't want to be forced into switching to the default or other templates and i hope you consider the suggestion made previously about adding a fallback as we really like this theme since day one.
As for DA; one of the finest, if not the best, control panel(s) with high flexibility and stability.
If you had bad experiences perhaps it's time to ask the help of experienced folks that can help you set it up (or buy good hardware? ;)).

Thanks for that, jumped to cPanel. :D
Seems to be the most popular for hosting sites.
Not to say I am giving up on DA, I still have an OWNED License on one server.
Yes I love DA, but I am tired of trying to get it working and need something I guess more reliable.
ThePlanet sets up the server, CP and makes sure it working.

All I can say to that is "yikes". Cpanel is the worst of the bunch when it comes to stability... even the Plesk memory hog is a better alternative IMHO.

I agree with above, it sounds like you simply need some more hands-on guidance with setting up (and perhaps a little more patience). As one would expect you're not going to find many people on here that think DA is any less than the best CP on the market, but I do understand how frustrating it can be to have things not work.
I hope you get your issues worked out and stick with DA.

I currently have about 70 servers running DA. I have installed DA on way more than that as customers come and go. I have never had a problem with it. I have found in most cases with any software or any equipment or anything in life if you follow the instructions it works well. I can install the OS and DA and have a server ready for a customer in about an hour.

Well I was able to reach Mr. Young in Buenos Aires.
The weather is cold, and he will look into the issue of outservers.com or the server that holds the Marina skin licenses back up an running.
As far as cPanel vs. Plesk vs. DA.
Have you ever heard the saying. Opinions are like Assholes, every has one.
The only two CP's I have ever used were Ensim and DA. I love DA, don't get me wrong, but I like it better when it works. :D

I have never used any of the other control panels except the old Cobalt Raq 3. Why should I? DA works 100% of the time.

Just because people failed to follow directions do not mean that the software, any software, is at fault.
Next time you have a problem with DA just send me an email and I will show what the problem is and why its not cause by DA.

I do have to agree with you. And I think most problems on here are actually due to third-party apps and users not knowing what they're doing. Of course DA uses those apps, but still shouldn't be held responsible for their problems.

smtalk was kind enough to fix the problem.
I guess the /etc/named.conf was missing some entries.
All is well.
Now calling into question the infallibility of the script. It was written by man, therefore is as infalable as it's creator.
Yes DA is a awsome script, and when I get delivery of my 10 new servers from www.abmx.com which are going to be colocated at Peer1 in Vancouver, every single one of those servers will have DirectAdmin.
Nevertheless, great script aside and my first choice among CP's, however it does have it's quirks...

There are lots of us here, including yours truly, who set up servers with DirectAdmin, make sure it's working, and continue to maintain it.
he posts a lot to this forum
That's an understatement; look at the top right of this post to see how many posts I've made :D.

I may actually have a few RaQ3s sitting around. I just gave away my only RaQ Xtra; it's not worth keeping up a one-of-a-kind server. I've got a bunch of RaQ4s and RaQ550s as well; I'm starting to provision RaQ550s as single-user and single-reseller DirectAdmin servers.

DirectAdmin isn't a script or series of scripts, although it does use scripts; it's actually a compiled C++ program.
Peer1 in Vancouver
I think Peer1 had a recent power outage in Vancouver, but I could be wrong; it could have been one of their other datacenters. I know they're two floors up from me at my new datacenter in Los Angeles.
