Subdomain to Domain?

Hello I just bought a dedicated server. I wanted to know if I setup a subdomain if it's possible to change it later to a domain. For example from test.domain.com to test.com. Is it also possible to setup a package for a subdomain? Where can I do that? Thanks in advance.

There is no automatic way to do that :) And there is no way to setup a package for subdomain.

Ok but it's possible to setup a subdomain to a domain? Because I've seen that before at other hosts. Or I have to backup the files from the subdomain and restore it in the domain? Is that possible?

Yes, you can use subdomain instead of domain (when you click on "Domain Setup" or write it in "Domain" field ("Add New User"). And yes, you can move your subdomain data to domain if you want to have you subdomain created as "domain" :)

When you create a subdomain as a domain instead of as a subdomain, it'll work exactly the way you want, and you can rename it later to anything you want ... but you must make sure DNS works for it. If you're using the same server to host both, and serving DNS through DirectAdmin, generally this will just work.
