In my DirectAdmin I see this set up as a domain: ip82.smart-dns.com
I did not set that up.

DNS NS settings are: ip82.smart-dns.com. NS ns1.smart-dns.com.
ip82.smart-dns.com. NS ns2.smart-dns.com.

What is ns1.smart-dns.com and ns2.smart-dns.com? Now I see that many of my sites/domains by default are set up on those nameservers..?

Another question I have is why is TXT record set to "v=spf1 a mx ip4:206.212.242.108 ?all"

What is that ? Shouldn't TXT record be an IP? I have no idea what the heck this stuff is...

and why my sites are set up on smart-dns.com nameservers when that's not my site...I have my own dedicated server...

maybe, ip82.smart-dns.com is your hostname and ns(1|2).smart-dns.com are your default ns servers?
What shows the http://ip:2222/CMD_ADMIN_SETTINGS?

Attached is a screenshot of my current admin settings..
I am not a server admin (my server is managed) but I am learning..

Forgive my stupidity for now..

I see that my hostname etc is this smart-dns.com site..
Why is this? Shouldn't it be my server's IP address or subnet mask ?

It should be your site name.
Your hoster could write these settings to your server, because it is managed. Try contacting him and ask him this question.
