Hey guys,

We are leasing out a server with directadmin to client that does their own webhosting.

The problem is, they set up the admin/reseller/user relationship wrong. They have a bunch of resellers that manage their own domains, but they have all the domains set up under the reseller, without creating separate users for each of the domains.

So now, one of the domains wants an SSL cert, which requires assigning them a dedicated IP.

Is there anyway to do this under the situation I just described? Or do we need to move the domain over to a new user account attached to the reseller?

thanks!

You really need to move the domain to another user. I believe there is a script here on the forum somewhere that will do that. There is also an item in the knowledgebase that will help you do it. But backup the domain before you do anything just in case.

OK, so now on to the next question.

What would be the best way to accomplish this? Is it a -- backup user/change domain names/delete domain to move from user/restore backup as new user/delete unneeded domains from new user/change domain names back on old user -- process?

Did you read the article in the knowledgebase yet? What have you tried so far?

Also backup the entire user before you try anything. That way you can always restore that user to the previous state.

You mean this KB:
http://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=58

Yeah, which is where I came up with my "plan". I haven't tried anything yet, I just want to be sure that is the best way.. Because to follow my "plan" and the kb, it will take down several sites while the transfer takes place.

thanks for your help

Don't you think it would be prudent to test with a fake user and fake domains first before you try it out on the real thing?
