mysql4+mysql5

hello
i have alot of clients in my server that want to use ipb 1.x (free) and ipb 1.x works only with mysql4
so it is possible to install mysql4 and mysql5 toghter?
if yes how?
and if now.. what is the lastest mysql 4 version and how i can intall it insted of mysql 5.
