password problem

Some help please:

ssh password works for admin; directadmin password for admin fails. Logged into ssh, changed to root ran passwd admin set the new password. Tried to log into directadmin still failing.

Is there a file to tell directadmin where to check for the password?

Try restarting mysqld in SSH as root user and then login to Directadmin.

This is happening to us today for some unknown reason.
