domain.com goes to different place than www.domain.com

I set up a domain and when I go to the browser, if I type

domain.com

I go to the standard default welcome page that gets set up for the domain.

If I type

www.domain.com

I get this message:

This IP is being shared among many domains.
To view the domain you are looking for, simply enter the domain name in the location bar of your web browser.

Anyone have any thoughts why this would occur?

Are the dns the same on both the domain.com and www.domain.com make sure that the ips match.
