Well, 8 hours and counting on trying to pay you for a key and no one returning my e-mails. I thought maybe I'd try here and see if I could get a response from sales or support regarding my e-mails.

Give it a few more hours.... As a note, you have 5 days grace period on all licenses also... so unless your deeply into that already, its safe to say your copy of DA wont collapse immediately :)

If you are the Mike I'm thinking of, then everything should be responded to and your license activated. Generally, support slows down during weekends, and we aren't available to hand check licenses after midnight, especially on the weekend.
If you plan on needing more licenses quickly, we can always upgrade your account and give you the ability to activate licenses without our system waiting for payment processor approval. We don't do this for many people due to the potential for abuse, but if you need several licenses it's something we'll consider.

I'd be interested as well, Mark, as it would help us around the monthly anxiety we feel if we knew we could solve such problems in your absence.
Personally, this thread has helped me resolve some of the anxiety I had this morning when your system advised me that my license was expired, since PayPal reports a payment to you already made under the subscription program.
My guess is there's something weird going on in your system.
Please check it out and let us all know that updates will again be occurring on schedule.
Thanks.

Hi Jeff,
All licenses are manually updated from a large list. They are independant of payments, but the system will keep bugging Mark to update it starting from 3 days before expiry. You'll also have the 5 day grace period where everything will still chug along happily. (As a last resort there isn't anything stopping you from changing the date on your server ;))
If you have any issues with licenses, you can just fire off an email to sales@directadmin.com and Mark will get things sorted out.

The problem is it's already past the grace period and I get an error message saying there's an error in the license file.
I just fired off an email to sales; I had thought it should go to support.
Thanks.

Same difference ;) They all end up in Marks Inbox. I think he's already done for the night, so it will be first thing tomorrow morning.

Probably a bad idea to have that... That basically allows anyone to have a monthly license for.... (however long they want - until you notice) doesnt it?

In the long run changing the server date would be a bad idea; it would play havoc with logging, tracking usage, etc., usw.

But it basically allows anyone to have a lifetime license as they need.... in my opinion a much better method would be have "licensing time" rather than "local system time" that grabs the time from a specific server elsewhere...

Chris,
You make a good point.
However as long as Mark and John make up a small company I know I feel a lot safer if there's some kind of fallback position.
What happens if both of them go away for a few days, and for reasons impossible for them to fix, the internet connection at their destination doesn't work as expected? Do we expect them to go back home immediately?
Ideally there will be some kind of license extension method, some kind of key escrow, or something.
My new customers, when coming on board, often ask me what kind of backup we have available if something happens to me; I'm sure it's not unfair of us to ask Mark and John the same thing.
