running apache/php as MPM Worker? for multi-cpu servers?

anyone here able to get your apache/php to use mpm worker?

i am trying to do so by compiling apache with --with-mpm=worker but it keeps giving me error.

can someone give me an advice on this one who have been able to sucesfully implement this?
