ACL order of operations

Does the ACL list act like a firewall ruleset in regards to the accept and deny policies start from top to bttom and if it gets accepted at the top then it never gets checked against the rules at the bottom.

Or does an email hit all rules in the list?

Each rule gets checked in order. Once a rule blocks an email, the rest of the list isn't checked.
