Compiling PHP as a static Apache module?

smtalk posted some time ago an interesting article (http://ilia.ws/archives/28-PHPApache-Static-vs-DSO.html) about compiling PHP as a static Apache module. I would like to try that, is there a way to compile PHP in that way using custombuild? Any help would be very appreciated, thank you!

No, it's not possible to do that now (unless you do that manually). You can also create a poll for that and we will see if it's really needed, because if you'll want to update PHP - you will have to recompile Apache too (that could take some time).
