Hi to all ,

First if the DU progs see this then id like to say that with the new backup feature its starting to look like the best admin tool out there .

I made some tests with backups and noticed that its not backing up the relative httpd.conf's to the user made by the admin .

Lets say that the admin ajusted and added few lines on the obove textarea box from httpd.conf ajustmnets arae .

The backupup of the user and the domain/s dont backup this ajustments , i think its quite important as every server has few problematics domains with special ajustmenst like opening the ExecCGI or playing with the PHP permissions .

After restoring the site without this ajsuments can couse a lot of grif and manual ajusting to https confs .

Anyway i guess jhon thought aboat it in what he ment all backup
goodies pland fro the future .

Also a full system backup of all confs seperatly take care of that but it would be much better as built in thing by the prog developers in my opiniun .
E.g - backup all apache , mysql etc...

How about server wide backup to a 2nd harddisk? i 'm reading this post

http://www.directadmin.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1489

but it says unofficial, so DA doens't come with a server wide backup option, isn't it?

Hello,

That feature is only the first small step of the backup features that will be available. The admin version of the same thing will follow. It will have the ability to specify paths on different disks etc. Also, since the custom httpd.conf feature is an admin level control, only the admin version the backup/restore feature will support it. Also the full server version (whenever it happens) will do each part seperatly (won't create the user.tar.gz files).. it will just do everything in one shot so all that type of stuff will be saved.

I think the admin level stuff should be well underway for the next release. User backups to a specified path by an Admin will be there for sure, not sure about the full server backup, but we'll see :)
