View Full Version : Dynamic dns services
I would like to know if it’s possible to include dynamic dns services to DA? If not are you planning on adding this feature sometime soon? I have users who have to deal with dynamic ip changing pretty often so, they are currently using other service provider to deal with this. Would it be possible to offer them this service using their business domain name?
Thanks

If its round robin you are looking for its probably not a "script" you need, there are a few how-to guides on the internet, here is 1 I have just found on google:
http://www.zytrax.com/books/dns/ch9/rr.html#order
The search:

DynamicDNS is nothing like a round robin setup. DYDNS is a customer of your does not have a static ip. Normally this is broadband users (WiFi, Cable, DSL) who want to run servers from home.
The customer will have a client software what reports to the DNS server at regular intervials to let it know the current ip address. The DNS server then updates the ip address in the zone file and it appears to the outside world they have a static ip.
BTW: Round Robin setup is BIND sucks...last time I checked 8/9 did't allow for % of traffic to a specific ip in the round robin. Forget that we would purchase a Tiara or something like it

Wow I did't know that BIND 9 supported nsupdate yet? Cool...this could EASILY be intergrated into DA at some point in the future. This would be a GREAT feature to add but kind of get of the the webhosting frame of mind.
The only problem I can find with this is it seems it only supports a *nix box. I have been looking for one that supports DyDNS's client software because it is built into soho routers and other equipment.
Thanks for that link Chris !
