Mailing List Disable

Hi,
I have a mailing list setup on my domain.
It has 300 subscribers and i have been asked to disable it because spam is getting in.
Is it possible for me to disable the list without deleting it?
Ideally i would like to keep the list there so i could just re-activate it when necessary.

I'm not a majordomo expert, but couldn't we just set all access to "closed", and set "Moderate" to "yes"?
