Hello World,

Well im finally reached the point of throwing money around!

** What's the case ?!@$%

I can NOT find the ultimate webmail client for my servers.
I feel that alot of *nix based webhosters have the same problem.

I tryed almost every webmail client available on the web and none are satisfied, exept one: OWA but thats winbl0ws, i don't host winbl0ws and that CAL stuff costs thousands of dollars if you have alot of users.. no option, it has to be an free service for the customers.

** What i need as an webmail client:

- Functionality: Like Outlook Web Access / Outlook (shared calendar/contacts/syncronise with local mail client)

- Speed: Like NOCC/roundcube/Horde

- Stability: Like Horde

- Customisable: Like Squirrel -> Modules

- Apperance: Outlook style but prettier.

- Costs: Free for users, license for the owners. (low costs, ultimate webmail client is ultimate commerce publication for your company)

(What i tryed so far: Horde, uebimiaukitty, squirrel, @mail, Zimbra, Nutsmail, NOCC, Merak, roundcube, b1gmail, vmail, hivemail <-dead?, zarafa, OWA, Merak, runbox, all the free webmail yahoo etc.)

What i search is not online!
My question im looking for an coder who want to build this for me!!! -> $$$$ ofcourse under my copyright/licenses..

Maybe if more hosters feel the need like me, we can combine powers with our $ and look for an coder that will satisfy us! The more investers; the cheaper it gets; the bigger the project; The better client we will get..

Hope to hear from you..
As commentar, investor or coder :)

Greets,

Mike

go to socketmail.com their pro version is probably what you are looking for, they have a lite version that is perfect for shared hosting sites that want to offer email to clients too

MDaemon is your answer. It is fast, outlook stylist, more stable than Horde, and also:
- integrated with AntiVirus
- AV automatic update and support urgent update!
- support chat

I have use MDaemon for more than 7 years! I have try Zimbra, Merak, Squirrel, Horde, Round Cube but ... MD still the best.
Now, MD also available in freeware version!

This looks more like advertising.

Look at those prices. I wouldn't pay that much for a email client while the new horde can do it all too.

Not sure which is worse, the prices of the product or the fact that they bumped a thread from two years ago to advertise said product. :p

I'm not sure if it's meant to be advertising or not. User kotakomputer is a new user who's made two informative threads about Ubuntu and DirectAdmin. So I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

While I don't think any of us are going to buy a Windows-only complete email solution (were you so busy looking at the pricing that you didn't notice that :)), the pricing is actually quite reasonable for the Windows world.

Mailtraq (http://www.enstarllc.com/), a Windows email server for which I previously (many years ago) served as Western Hemisphere distributor, sells for significantly more, and yet it's significantly less than Microsoft Exchange (http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/2007/howtobuy/default.mspx#E5D).

Exchange really is a different kettle of fish to most *nix based mail systems.

Each has it's place imho but exchange really domminates when you start dealing with global or even multi-site companies that need a full groupware suite.

Amazing isn't it how many people can be convinced to post on a 2 year old thread whilst waiting for input on there other posts :)

Have you tried atmail? That's good and has shared calendar etc.

I use HiveMail :)
It's really easy to costumize and code, everything is object oriented.

It's really bad.
For a Hosting provider it's really crapy :)
Squirell is more featured than Afterlogic's webmail.

A few years ago I found this when I was looking for an exchange substitute, back then the script had some great features but was buggy and had no development
In the past few months the project has been revived with lots of great features and modules like syncing with Blackberry and other PDAs
I do not thing everything is ready yet, but is is something to watch!

I installed the 5.2 beta, went fairly smooth and working, looks like one of those commercial packages
sad thing is so many of the add-ons are not available any longer :(

Three and a half years ago, after the first post to this thread, I moved it to the Help Wanted subforum; the first post was looking for someone to write a webmail client.

But since then no post has been about that; instead the thread became a discussion of various webmail clients.

So today, when I noticed, I moved the thread to the E-mail subforum.
