Is it okay to upgrade the kernal and the apache on my DIrectAdmin system or will it cause problems?

I know by default up2date does not load those items, but I want to keep as secure as possible while still having new features available to my clients.

Hello,

You can upgrade your kernel if you wish. DirectAdmin doesn't have any ties to one particular kernel. Apache is build by our customapache script. You are free to change versions to whichever you want, but it would then be up to you to get it working.

I just wanted to add my two cents worth...

We have a license of DirectAdmin dedicated to testing.

If anyone would like access to it to try something they're afraid to do on their live system, please let me know; depending on what you need to try, and the timeframe, we may be able to accomoodate you.

(The license is RHL 7.3, but perhaps if the need were great, the great people at DA could accommodate us in changing it if required.)
