Summary:
mailscanner-mrtg provides configuration files, web pages, and related perl scripts for mrtg to monitor many aspects of your MailScanner machine. With it you will be able to monitor things like:

* Mail Relayed * Files in incoming queue
* Spam Identified * Files in outgoing queue
* Virii Caught * Memory (Ram) Used
* Copies of Sendmail Running * Load Average
* Copies of MailScanner Running * CPU Utilization
* Disk Space Used in /var/spool * Disk Space Used in /

And gave it a go with a RH9 system.
You need to have followed my MailScanner Howto and to have mrtg installed (not necessarily configured)

I'm not responsible for any damage that this can do to your Red Hat installation.

Getting ready
---------------
# up2date -u sysstat
# wget http://aleron.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/mailscannermrtg/mailscanner-mrtg-0.06.tar.gz

# tar -zxvf mailscanner*

# cd mailscanner*

Edit and copy
-----------------
# pico -w mailscanner-mrtg.conf
Change the following

MTA = exim
Outgoing Queue Dir = /var/spool/exim/input
Incoming Queue Dir = /var/spool/exim.in/input

# cp mailscanner-mrtg.conf /etc/MailScanner
# cp mailscanner-mrtg.cfg /usr/local/mrtg-2/bin
# cp mailscanner-mrtg /usr/sbin/
# cp mailscanner-mrtg.include /etc/httpd/conf/

# pico -w /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf

Add this line to the bottom of your Apache httpd.conf file, after Include /etc/httpd/conf/ips.conf

Include /etc/httpd/conf/mailscanner-mrtg.include


# mkdir /var/www/html/mailscanner-mrtg
# cp web/* /var/www/html/mailscanner-mrtg

run this three times and ignore errors:
# env LANG=C /usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/mrtg /usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/mailscanner-mrtg.cfg


Restart apache
# service httpd restart

Put this line at the end of your /etc/crontab file:
0-59/5 * * * * /usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/mrtg /usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/mailscanner-mrtg.cfg 1> /dev/null 2> /dev/null

Point your browser at http://yourserver/mailscanner-mrtg

hmm i installed it fine by getting the latest stable release... but the stats ( stats (http://narutochaos.com/mailmrtg/) )dont update even after i added the cron and when i try to run it i get the following error:

One thing i have noticed - you might want to change your crontab to:
*/5 * * * * env LANG=C /usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/mrtg /usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/mailscanner-mrtg.cfg

MRTG wont run without the env LANG=C :)

you need to amend line 35 in /usr/sbin/mailscanner-mrtg

if you still have the original dir from where you installed mailscanner-mrtg the files are there.

IE my MSMRTG dir is /root/mailscanner-mrtg-0.10.00/lib/
