Hi,

I have a client using an autoresponder but when mail is sent to this account it is not stored in the mailbox, it just dissapears. If the autoresponder is deleted it works properly. Any ideas ?

DirectAdmin uses traditional autoresponders; that is, they don't allow both your mail account AND the autoresponder to receive incoming mail.

If you want an auto-reply feature (and the ability to receive POP mail on the same account), just set up a vacation message and it will work perfectly for you. :D

Usually auto-responder / vacation auto-responder are the same things.... if you dont want mail wouldnt it just be easier to use the blackhole?.... (At Mark and John also - not to confuse people with this!)

My client set the autoresponder for a "thank you for the mail, we will answer ASAP", not alot of good when the mail never arrives......

Also, the vacation message shows the line ------------
This message was automatically generated by email software
The delivery of your message has not been affected.

------ ------ at the top of the mail, where as the autoresponder doesn't, If my client is forced to use vacation message how can the above lines be removed ?

Hello,

I'm going to change the default exim.conf files to use "unseen" in the "userautoreply" Director. You can get the changed exim.conf from:
