Hello
This answer for my question concerning the AMD64-opteron may be usefull for you.
Answer:
We support:
- Redhat 7.2-9.0
- Fedora 1-5
- Enterprise/CentOS 3.x/4.x (4.x is supported in 64-bit)
- FreeBSD 4,5,6
- Debian
So, if you need a 64-bit OS then CentOS 4.x or Enterprise 4.x would be required. Otherwise, you can use any of the above operating systems if you install the 32-bit version.

While I won't get into a detailed discussion about OS's Fedora is garbage for a server. Use Cent at least or RHES. If it were me FreeBSD, faster, more secure and far get performance out of.

Do you have some case studies or at least comprehensive OS benchmarks to support that argument? Just curious.
