Where are the maildirs?

This may be a dumb question, but where are the new maildirs that dovecot was suppose to create? I still see huge single mail files in /var/spool/virtual/.

Please advise.

Hmm, I take that back, everything in /var/spool/virtual has old dates.

Is it safe to delete everything in /var/spool/virtual now?

But still, where are these maildirs?

I think I found it now... in /home/username/imap.

Now I noticed some pre-dovecot domains have /home/username/mail and /home/username/maildir folders. Is it safe to delete these?

Though I'm NOT looking at an installation now, my guess is that it's safe to delete them as long as the email in them has been either converted or read.
