Delete an IMAP account?

How do I delete an IMAP account? I've noticed that when I delete the account, the IMAP files and folders are still there. If I go to the imap/<domain> directory, select the user I just deleted, then click the DELETE SELECTED button, it denies the operation (tree is owned by root.root).
