Hi all, Ive done a quick search and couldnt find anything on this

What im thinking of is a facility to backup a reseller and all of the users under them.

Recently we started using the user backup to migrate users between DA servers, and it works lovely (restores everything grand and lovely, no messing with passwords or anything)

An option to do this with resellers and all of their users would be very sweet (at admin level obviously)

Regards

Jimmy

We simply log into the reseller account from our admin account, and run the backup from there.

Do you want one button to back up all the resellers?

Does that backup the reseller account as well as the users under them, as in, when i login as admin, go to the reseller level and performa a backup (on a seperate server) will it restore the reseller account in addition to the user accounts??

It will backup the reseller's user. I think packages (the actually reseller account settings) might not be saved. You have to recreate the reseller account then restore the users under that reseller.

Every reseller control panel has the ability to back up all the users that reseller has created. I'm not sure what else you may be asking.

Jon, what are you trying to say? You've managed to confuse me.

Please read my response immediately above and either agree or disagree so I know where you stand.

Thanks.

Ok, i think im after confusing things a bit

Here is the situation, we have a DA server that is under considerable strain. We are migrating people from it as the opportunity arrises. We use the User Backup to do this, SCP the tar the the new server, and do the restore.

All of this takes place under the "admin" reseller (the "root" user as it were)

We have a number of resellers with 5-10 users/domains under them, which are pretty heavy on the server

Now what i would like is a way for us to backup an entire Reseller, all of their settings (packages etc) and all of their users, copy that to a new server, and run the restore. Hey presto, the reseller is re-created along with all of their users.

Basically i would like the Admin user to be able to backup Resellers (including all of the users under that Reseller)

Not available.

The workaround is to log in as each reseller, then do the reseller backups.

Don't forget to the create the reseller first, before restoring it's users.

Jon,

You wrote the reseller's user. You probably should have written the resellers' users. Then I would have understood.

:)

Not only the punctuation, but the "s" on the end of users.

Hey, if you don't want me to correct you, then stop including the invitation to do so in your sig :) .

Hi Guys,

That workaround is exactly what we are currently doing.

I know the facility is currently not available, thats why i put this in Feature Request :)

Cheers for the responses lads.
