Exim problems

Hey, We had problems with exim, and have decided to use exim4 now, but the problem is DA is looking in the wrong place for exim, and i can't find where to update where it looks, so therefore it's saying exim is down.

How old is your DA installation? DA has been using exim 4 for probably over two years now.

You should update or reinstall exim from the official DA sources and packages; they can be found here (http://files.directadmin.com/services/).

I'm getting so confused by this. I've tried uninstalled exim from apt-get exim and exim4, and have tried
dedi1-1:/var/run# dpkg -i da_exim-4.54.deb
dpkg: regarding da_exim-4.54.deb containing exim:
exim4-base conflicts with exim
exim (version 4.51-1) is to be installed.
exim provides exim and is to be installed.
dpkg: error processing da_exim-4.54.deb (--install):
conflicting packages - not installing exim
Errors were encountered while processing:
da_exim-4.54.deb

But they wont install.

(It's a new install of DA i'm very new to DA)
