Hi,

We just purchased an ISP who is currently using DA for DNS & Mail, but we would like to move the DNS back to our own systems for the sake of conformity and as a step in the migration and integration into our existing network.

So, I am wondering if it is possible to make our DNS servers the primary and point the MX records back to DA. Or, will this break the mail system?

Can anyone help with this?

Cheers,

Paddy

Paddy,

I don't see why not, but of course the devil is in the details.

Why do you think it may break something?

If the zone files on your servers are not the same as the zone files on the DA server you should figure out why and decide what you want to do about it.

Such as conform the DA DNS zones to the ones you run?

Or someting else.

Depends on what you're doing, why, and how.

Are you going to be at ISPCon next week? Probably not; it's a long way from New Zealand.

Hi Paddy,

I am pretty sure that I know who's server that was and what the situation is... if you need a hand with DirectAdmin give me an email on ben@datasolutions.net.nz I will attempt to help you out.
